Job Title: Accountant – Homeowner Association Services LLC

Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our team at a growing HOA property management company. The ideal candidate will manage financial operations for multiple homeowner associations (HOAs), ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all accounting functions. This position requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, HOA financial management, and the ability to work collaboratively with property managers, board members, and vendors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting:
Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow Statement).
Generate detailed reports for each HOA, including budget vs. actual performance, reserve fund analysis, and other financial metrics.
Assist in the preparation of annual budgets for multiple associations, ensuring compliance with established financial policies and guidelines. - Accounts Payable & Receivable:
Oversee the accounts payable process, ensuring timely payment of vendor invoices and monitoring outstanding balances.
Process resident payments, including assessments, fines, and special assessments, while ensuring accurate recording and reconciliation. - Bank Reconciliations:
Reconcile HOA bank accounts on a monthly basis, ensuring that all transactions are accurately recorded and discrepancies are promptly addressed.
Maintain proper cash flow management for each association and ensure sufficient liquidity for operational needs. - General Ledger Management:
Maintain the integrity of the general ledger by recording journal entries, adjusting entries, and ensuring proper coding of transactions.
Prepare and post month-end and year-end adjustments. - Audit & Compliance:
Assist in the preparation for annual audits, ensuring all financial records and documentation are accurate and complete.
Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations as well as internal financial policies and procedures. - Resident and Vendor Communications:
Address any resident or vendor billing inquiries, providing clear and accurate information regarding account balances or payment issues.
Coordinate with property managers to resolve financial discrepancies related to community operations. - Tax Reporting & Filing:
Prepare and file necessary tax documents for each HOA, including 1099 forms, property tax returns, and other related filings.
Collaborate with external tax advisors to ensure timely and accurate tax compliance. - Financial Strategy & Advisory:
Provide financial insights and advice to the property management team and HOA boards, assisting with decisions related to reserve studies, capital improvements, and special assessments.
Help identify opportunities for cost savings or efficiencies in the management of HOA properties.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in accounting, preferably in HOA property management or real estate.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and budgeting.
- Familiarity with HOA financial management software (e.g., Yardi, AppFolio, Condo Control, or similar) is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and accounting software.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of tax laws and compliance regulations related to HOAs is a plus.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive salary based on experience: $60,000 - $70,000.
