Staff Accountant
Location: Employee may work on-site at our Stinson Beach or Glen Ellen, CA offices, remotely, or in a hybrid arrangement combining both on-site and remote work.

About the Role:
Audubon Canyon Ranch is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant (2–5 years’ experience) to maintain accurate financial records, support reporting and compliance, and ensure smooth accounting operations. You will work closely with the Controller and play a key role in a growing, mission-driven nonprofit.

Requirements
Responsibilities
Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, support monthly and year-end close.
Prepare journal entries and internal financial reports.
Reconcile revenue and investment accounts monthly.
Assist with payroll and benefits administration.
Track and report on grants and budgets.
Support annual audit preparation and coordinate with external auditors.
Ensure compliance with GAAP and financial regulations.
Collaborate on process improvements and system enhancements.
Participate in meetings and trainings.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
2–5 years of relevant experience; experience with financial reporting a plus.
Familiarity with nonprofit accounting and GAAP is helpful but not required.
Proficiency in Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Blackbaud Financial Edge).
Comfortable learning new technology and systems.

Clear written and verbal communication skills in English.
